Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of industrial agglomeration, the labor force, and minimum wages on economic growth across districts and municipalities in Lampung Province during 2018–2022 and to discuss their implications from an Islamic economic perspective. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and official labor-related documents. The analysis applies panel data regression covering 15 districts and municipalities, comprising 75 observations, using a two-way fixed-effects model with cluster-robust standard errors at the regional level. Industrial agglomeration is measured using the Location Quotient (LQ) index, while the labor force and minimum wages are transformed into natural logarithms. The estimation results indicate that industrial agglomeration has a negative coefficient of −3.6897 with a p-value of 0.1625. Meanwhile, the labor force and minimum wages exhibit positive coefficients of 0.7321 and 4.0454, with p-values of 0.6728 and 0.4125, respectively. None of the three variables exhibits a statistically significant relationship with economic growth, either individually or jointly, at the 5% significance level. These findings indicate insufficient statistical evidence of associations between the explanatory variables and regional economic growth within the estimated model. From an Islamic economic perspective, regional development should emphasize distributive justice, productive employment opportunities, fair remuneration, and community welfare.
